Ectopia cordis

Herzektopie, Ektokardie, Kardiozele (Greek ectopia cordis, ICD code Q24.8 ) is a rare congenital displacement ( ectopia ) of the heart from the chest. She has a poor prognosis, even if it is diagnosed prenatally by ultrasound.

The fetal heart can be displaced in case of defects of the chest wall in front of the chest ( thoracic Ektocardia ) or with larger gaps in the diaphragm into the abdomen ( Ektokardia subthoracica ).
