Ed Bishop
Ed Bishop ( born June 11, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York City as George Victor Bishop, † June 8, 2005 in London, United Kingdom ) was an American actor.
Life
Bishop began his career in London in 1961 as a supporting actor in television series and plays. A year later he made his first appearance in a movie - in Stanley Kubrick's Lolita, he played an ambulance driver. After another short appearances ( among others also the little ones want to move up, You Only Live Twice, 2001: A Space Odyssey ) he met in 1967, the television producers Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, who offered him a major voice in the puppet series Captain Scarlet and it then occupied as Commander Ed Straker in the science fiction series UFO. Both series were, even though they only ran short, very popular and earned him a large following. Therefore Until his death, he regularly attended fan conventions.
In the following years he still took on roles in radio, television, film and theater, and lent his voice for commercials and animated series. Since he had his principal residence in England, he was mainly occupied as a U.S. citizen in British productions.
He was married three times and had a son (deceased) and three daughters. He died just days after his UFO co-star Michael Billington.
