Ed Clancy

Edward Clancy MBE ( born March 12, 1985 in Barnsley ) is an English racing cyclist.

Sports career

His first success drove Ed Clancy one at the British Track Cycling Championships 2004. Together with Mark Cavendish, he finished second at Madison. For the 2005 season, the two exchanged the mediation of the head of T- Mobile Development program Heiko Salzwedel to the German Continental Team Sparkasse. He was British Champion in the Team Pursuit 2005 Cavendish, Steve Cummings and Geraint Thomas. Towards the end of the 2006 season went Clancy as a stagiaire at the Belgian Professional Continental team Landbouwkrediet - Colnago.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, the British quartet with Geraint Thomas, Bradley Wiggins, Paul Manning and Ed Clancy won gold in the team pursuit ahead of Denmark and New Zealand. At the Olympic Games four years later Clancy could repeat the Olympic gold medal in the team pursuit and captured the bronze medal in the Omnium.

2013 Ed Clancy was in Minsk Vice World Champion in the Team Pursuit, together with Steven Burke, Sam Harrison and Andrew Tennant.

Honors

Clancy was honored with induction into the Hall of Fame of the European Cycling Union Union Européenne de Cyclisme.
