Ed Harris

Edward "Ed" Allen Harris ( born November 28, 1950 in Tenafly, New Jersey ) is an American actor, screenwriter and director who is considered one of the leading American character actor of his generation. He frequently appears as a profiled Supporting Actor in appearance, among other things in the film drama Apollo 13 as Gene Kranz, head of mission control.

Life

Harris studied at Columbia University in New York, where he focused on sports. After the Acting had aroused his interest, he decided to take acting lessons. After his graduation, he went to Los Angeles, where he first played at smaller theaters and the first television actor. He made his Broadway debut in 1983 in Sam Shepard's play Fool for Love, for which he won an Obie Award.

That same year, Harris starred in the movie The stuff of which heroes are based on the novel by Tom Wolfe astronaut John Glenn. Since then, he is considered one of the great character actors of American cinema, which is able to give a distinctive look to small supporting roles with his style of play, so as in Jacknife, Glengarry Glen Ross, The company, Apollo 13, Nixon, The Rock - rock the decision, The Truman Show, A Beautiful Mind - Beautiful Mind, The Hours - From eternity to eternity, and in A History of Violence. Harris is married to actress Amy Madigan, with whom he one daughter ( * 1993).
