Ed Litzenberger

Edward "Ed" Litzenberger ( born July 15, 1932 in Neudorf, Saskatchewan, † 1 November 2010) was a Canadian ice hockey player ( Right Wing ), who from 1952 to 1964 for the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple leafs in the National Hockey League played.

Career

For the season 1952/53, the Montreal Canadiens picked him in their squad. Although he came to his debut in the NHL and also scored in his two stakes his first goal. However, as the squad was too much occupied, usually had to play with the Montreal Royals in the Quebec Major Hockey League. After he not made ​​the breakthrough in the following two years, they gave him in December 1954 from the Chicago Blackhawks. After four games without a point, he was able to prevail. This performance earned him the Calder Memorial Trophy as the best rookie one, whom also he failed to help his team on the way into the playoffs. For the 1961/62 season he moved to the Detroit Red Wings, but even before the new year, the Toronto Maple Leafs picked him in the Waiver Draft. There, he managed to won last year in Chicago Stanley Cup again to win in the next two years defending the Leafs the title.

From 1964, he was often used only in the farm team for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. After he had commuted in the 1965/66 season between Rochester and Victoria Maple Leafs of the Western Hockey League, he finished his career.
