Ed McBain

Ed McBain (* October 15, 1926 in New York; † July 6, 2005 in Weston, Connecticut; actually Salvatore Lombino ) was an American author and screenwriter.

Life

Born as Salvatore Lombino, he left his original stage name Evan Hunter in 1952 officially enter. As Evan Hunter, he published his first novel in 1952 and two years later with seeds of violence his first bestseller, which was made ​​into a movie. He also wrote screenplays, including for Alfred Hitchcock The Birds. In 1956, he adopted the pseudonym Ed McBain and began his series around the 87th police station, which was filmed several times. In addition, he has published novels but also under the name of Hunt Collins, Ezra Hannon, Richard Marsten, John Abbot and Curt Cannon.

Ed McBain was married three times. From his first marriage ( 1949 ) he had three children. His second marriage in 1973 was divorced. With his third wife, Dragica Dimitrijevic, whom he married in 1997, he lived until his death.

Ed McBain spent his last years in Weston, Connecticut, and died there on 6 July 2005 of throat cancer.
