Ed Warby

Ed Warby ( born March 7, 1968 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch drummer. He is best known as a member of the band Gorefest and studio musician for Ayreon.

At the age of twelve years was Ed Warby of his parents for the first drums. As a crucial point in his career, Ed Warby refers to the discovery that the drummer Cozy Powell used not just one, but two bass drums.

In 1982, Ed Warby, the band Agressor. After the dissolution of the band, he played for various local formations in Rotterdam and moved in 1987 to the Dutch power metal band Elegy. After Elegy debut album Labyrinth of Dreams 1992 he replaced Marc Hoogendoorn in Gorefest.

Arjen Lucassen 1998 noticed him and hired him in the following time for various recordings for the Ayreon project. So Warby played almost all of the drum parts of the Ayreon albums, including the re-recording of Actual Fantasy.

From 2004 to 2007 Warby was times consecutively selected from the drum magazine Slagwerkwereld four at the best drummer in the Benelux countries.
