Eddie Allen (jazz musician)

Eddie Allen ( born July 12, 1957 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player.

Eddie Allen, who is also known under the names EJ Allen, Eddie E. J. Allen, E. J. " Eddie" Allen, occurs studied trumpet in Milwaukee and began his career at Charlie Persip. He also worked with Muhal Richard Abrams, Lester Bowie, Art Blakey, Benny Carter, Chico Freeman, Dizzy Gillespie, Houston Person, Bobby Previte, Mongo Santamaria, Marty Ehrlich and Randy Weston, also he played in the New York Composers Orchestra ( First Program In Standard Time). Under his own name he put on Enja a series of albums in which he played among others with Teodross Avery, Dan Faulk and Cindy Blackman. With veterans like Cecil Bridgewater, Sam Burtis and Howard Johnson in 2008 was the big band album Groove 's Mood.
