Eddie Cheever III
Edward Mackay " Eddie" Cheever III ( born June 5, 1993, Rome ) is an Italian race car driver. He started in 2013 in the European Formula 3 Championship.
Career
Cheever began his motorsport career in karting in 2006, where he was active until 2009. In 2009 he moved also into formula racing and entered for Jenzer Motorsport in two Formula Renault championships. He finished eleventh in the Swiss Formula Renault, while his teammate Nico Müller won the league title, and 14 of the Italian Formula Renault. 2010 remained at Cheever Jenzer Motorsport and drove in Formula Abarth. While his teammate Patric Niederhauser was runner-up, Cheever finished the season with a third place as the best result on the tenth overall.
2011 moved Cheever to Lucidi Motorsports in the Italian Formula 3 Championship. With a second place as best result and a total of three podium finishes he placed ninth in the drivers' standings. 2012 Cheever denied his second season in the Italian Formula 3 Championship for the Prema Powerteam. He won four races and was a total of twelve times on the podium. With 248 to 281 points, he was defeated Riccardo Agostini and was second in the championship. As a reward for his services in the Italian Formula 3 Cheever was awarded a Formula 1 test drive with Scuderia Ferrari.
2013 remained Cheever at Prema Powerteam and moved into the European Formula 3 Championship. While his team-mate Raffaele Marciello, Alex Lynn and Lucas Auer had won at least one race and all the championship finished in the top four, was a third place Cheevers best result. He was at the end of the season on the thirteenth place overall.
