Eddie Imazu

Edward " Eddie" Yasuhei Imazu ( born December 12, 1897 in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, † May 29, 1979 in Los Angeles, California ) was a native of Japan, American art director and production designer, who at the Academy Awards in 1937 for the film the great Ziegfeld (1936 ) was nominated for the Academy Award for best Production Design.

Life

A native of Japan Imazu began his career as an art director and production designer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1927 with the film California and was from 1933 to 1968 35 years as an art director at Metro -Goldwyn- Mayer ( MGM) operates. Throughout his career he worked with at the scenic base of over eighty films and episodes of television series.

At the Academy Awards in 1937 Imazu was nominated together with the two art director and production designer Cedric Gibbons legends and Edwin B. Willis for the Academy Award for Best Production Design for the film The Great Ziegfeld (1936).
