Eddie Khan

Edward " Eddie" Khan (c. 1935) is an American jazz bassist.

Eddie Khan is one of the few jazz musicians who transferred from a woodwind instrument into a rhythm instrument. He began his career as a saxophonist in the area around San Francisco and began only in the 1950s to play bass. During this time he was a member of the Mal Waldron Quartet and accompanied the singer Billie Holiday in 1958 at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Khan was known primarily for his role in a series of sessions of the classic Blue Note label in the first half of the 1960s, as with recordings by Donald Byrd, Joe Henderson, Andrew Hill, Freddie Hubbard and Jackie McLean. He also participated in recordings of Eric Dolphy, and Bill Barron, and the quartet of Max Roach and Shirley Scott and Kenny Burrell with. Later recordings are not known.
