Eddie Preston

Edward " Eddie" Preston ( born September 5, 1928 in Dallas, Texas, † 22 June, 2009 Palm Coast, Flagler County, Florida) was an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player of modern jazz. He played with Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus.

Life and work

Eddie Preston played at the beginning of his career in 1945 in the orchestra of Johnny Otis, 1956 at Lionel Hampton. From it, there are few records recordings; is most remembered his involvement in the late Suites by Duke Ellington in 1970, his membership in two formations of Charles Mingus in 1963 and 1970/71 and McCoy Tyner. In 1966 he played in the big band of Howard McGhee at the Newport Jazz Festival.
