Eddie Shack

Eddie Steven Phillip Shack ( born February 11, 1937 in Sudbury, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his playing days from 1952 to 1977 among others for the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins played in the National Hockey League.

Career

Eddie Shack began his career as a hockey player with the Guelph Biltmores, for which he was active from 1952 to 1957 in the Ontario Hockey Association. Then he gave in the season in 1957/58 his debut in professional hockey when he 34 scorer points, including 16 goals scored for the Providence Reds of the American Hockey League in 35 games. Following this, the attacker received a contract with the New York Rangers, for whom he played the next two years in the National Hockey League. On 5 February 1960, the Rangers Shack wanted to transfer along with Bill Gadsby in exchange for Red Kelly and Billy McNeill to the Detroit Red Wings. Since the two players the Red Wings do not agree, however, the transfer, Shack was released to the Toronto Maple Leafs two days later in exchange for Pat Hannigan and Johnny Wilson, bringing a total of four times the prestigious Stanley Cup was won by the Left shooter in the following seven seasons (1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967).

In May 1967, Shack moved to the Boston Bruins for which he stood, the following two NHL seasons on the ice. By 1973, the Canadians also played for the Los Angeles Kings, Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins before he was bought on July 3, 1973 by his former club Toronto Maple Leafs. With the team from Ontario, he reached in the season 1974/75 once the playoffs, where he scored one goal in four games. In the following season he was only used sporadically in the Leafs, so he moved to the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League. After a year in which Shack paused, he finished in 1977 with the Whitby Warriors of the Ontario Hockey Association his career.
