Eddy Grant

Eddy Grant ( born March 5, 1948 as Edmond Montague Grant in Plaisance, Guyana ) is a British pop musician, singer, composer and guitarist. He he has been with the band The Equals, especially by their super hit Baby Come Back in 1967, is known.

Life

Grants family moved in 1960 from Guyana to London. He was co-founder of Equals, who had several hits 1967-1971. At the age of 23 years, Grant suffered a heart attack that forced him to Less kicking. He resorted to producing and founded his own studio Coach House as well as his own record label Ice Records.

1979 ends with Grant Living On The Front Line itself a hit, followed by others, such as I Do not Wanna Dance. He built the studio in Barbados on Blue Wave to live again with his family, which was previously drawn in the Caribbean. In Barbados Grant produced, among others, Mick Jagger, Sting and Elvis Costello.

Grant was also active politically. His hit Gimme Hope Jo'anna (1988 ) called about the end of apartheid in South Africa - the name, Jo'anna ' in the song title does not refer to a woman, but on the South African city of Johannesburg.

Last Grant came this week, when he the British band Gorillaz accused of plagiarism: Their 2010 released single Stylo is identical with its 1982 come out number Time Warp.
