Eddy Marnay

Eddy Marnay ( born December 18, 1920 in Algiers, Algeria as David Edmond Bacri, † January 3, 2003 in Neuilly -sur -Seine, Hauts -de -Seine, France) was a French songwriter, lyricist and composer of Algerian origin. He won with Un Jour, Un Enfant 1969 Euro Vision Song Contest.

Life

Throughout his career, he wrote more than 4,000 songs, including works for Édith Piaf, Paul Anka, Tony Bennett, Miles Davis, Marlene Dietrich, Barbra Streisand, Sarah Vaughan, and Céline Dion as well as film scores for various works. It was founded in 1969 as a copywriter of Un Jour, Un Enfant, sung by Frida Boccara winner of the Euro Vision Song Contest.

He was appointed a Knight of the French Legion of Honour in 1993.

He also wrote the theme song for Charlie Chaplin's 1957 film A King in New York.

Céline Dion, whose first five shots Marnay produced, named in 2010 one of her sons after him.
