Edel Quinn

Edel Quinn ( born September 14, 1907 in Greenane in Kanturk, County Cork, † May 14 1944 in Nairobi ) was an Irish member of the Legion of Mary and founder of numerous committees of the Legion in Africa.

Life

Her parents were Charles Quinn and Louise Burke Brown. You should get the name Adele originally, was it precious by a hearing defect. Precious originally wanted to join a religious community, but her poor health prevented this. At 20, she joined the Legion of Mary and worked in the slums of Dublin. In 1936 she went as an envoy of the Legion to East and Central Africa, where they founded hundreds Legion councils in present-day Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi and Mauritius. She died of tuberculosis in Nairobi and was buried at the local cemetery of the missionaries.
