Éder Aleixo de Assis

Éder Aleixo ( born May 25, 1957 in Vespasian; actually Éder Aleixo de Assis ) is a former Brazilian footballer.

Éder Aleixo played from May 1979 to April 1986 a total of 54 times for the Brazilian national football team, scoring eight goals. He was already in the 1979 squad the Seleção at the Copa América in 1979 and has been deployed. In his first two international matches against Paraguay on 17 May 1979, Uruguay he met once each. Éder was also in the squad at the Mundialito 1980/81 but has been used only in the final nine minutes from closing time. He became internationally known by participating in the Football World Cup 1982, where he ran aground in all five games of the Brazilians, scoring two of the best goals of the World Cup. At that time he was considered one of the best left winger in the world. The as a " Dream Team" acclaimed clearly favored Seleção scored 15 goals in five games and showed high-quality football, but surprisingly different by a 2:3 against the Italian national football team. At the Copa America in 1983 Eder was the best Brazilian marksman with two hits. Nicknamed O Canhão ( " the cannon " ) he received due to his tremendous shot power.

At the national level, he won with Gremio and twice with Atlético Mineiro six times the respective Regional Championship.
