Edgar Winter

Edgar Winter ( born December 28, 1946 in Beaumont, Texas, USA) is an American musician.

Life

Edgar Winter, son of a plantation owner, came with albinism to the world. He mainly plays saxophone, but often also piano, keyboards and drums and various electronic devices such as expanders or drum machine. Musically, he is eignetlich home in blues and blues-rock, but you can him because of his numerous " musical excursions " be described as all-rounder. Moreover, he is the younger brother of U.S. blues guitarist and singer Johnny Winter, with whom he also occur together repeatedly.

In 1970 he published the first album by Edgar Winter Entrance, which was well received by the critics and the audience. Initially, he worked with the backing band White Trash, later with the Edgar Winter Group, with whom he had the hit Frankenstein (1973 number 1 in the U.S. charts ).

The album They Only Come Out At Night reached # 3 in 1973 and stayed 80 weeks in the album charts. It was established in 1973 with gold and 1986 awarded double platinum.

Again and again the two brothers Edgar and Johnny played together. Edgar wrote music for several films and for television and advertising. In addition, he has worked with numerous well-known colleagues, both studio albums as well as live tours. These have included: Todd Rundgren, Meat Loaf, Bruce Willis, Ringo Starr, Eddie Van Halen, Usher, Willie Nelson, Jackson Browne, Leon Russell, Rick Derringer, Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather, Slash or Tina Turner. Edgar Winter is a member of Scientology. He lives in Beverly Hills.
