Edie Adams ( * April 16, 1927 in Kingston, Pennsylvania, USA, † 15 October 2008 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American singer, film, television and theater actress.

Private life

Edie Adams was born Elizabeth Edith Enke in Kingston, Pennsylvania. Adams was married from 1954 until his death in 1962 with Ernie Kovacs, whose tax liabilities they had to pay then. Adams financial situation was thus very stressed and the debt could be paid back only with the support of prominent friends. From 1972 to 1989 she was married to the jazz trumpeter Pete Candoli. The actress was suffering from cancer and died at the age of 81 years of pneumonia. She left behind her son Josh Mills.

Career

Edie Adams graduated from the Columbia School of Drama and was then trained at the Juilliard School. Her career as actress began in the 1950s, first as an actress in television movies. Along with Ernie Kovacs she stood from 1952 for the television series in front of the camera. Later she received roles in movies and was especially popular in the 1960s, a supporting actress. The cinema audience is particularly made ​​famous by two supporting roles.
