Edie Falco

Edie Falco ( born July 5, 1963 as Edith Falco in Brooklyn, New York City ) is an American actress of Italian and Swedish roots.

Biography

Falco is in Northport, New York, a small town on Long Iceland, grew up, where she also graduated from high school. She graduated then at the State University of New York at Purchase.

She began her career with several supporting roles in such films as Summer of our dreams, suspicion of Love and Trust - Blind trust. Her breakthrough came after guest roles in TV series such as Homicide and Law & Order with the role of Carmela Soprano in The Sopranos next to James Gandolfini and Lorraine Bracco. For this, they received two SAG Awards, three Emmys and two Golden Globes. Since 2009 she plays the lead role of nurse Jackie Peyton in the hospital drama Nurse Jackie.

She had breast cancer, but the disease survived. She is a supporter of the Democratic Party. In 2004, she has adopted a son. She was romantically involved with Stanley Tucci, whom she has known since college.
