Edinburgh-Marathon

The Edinburgh Marathon is a marathon in Edinburgh, which is organized each end of May or beginning of June since 2003. It is the largest in Scotland and after the London Marathon is the second largest in the United Kingdom.

The complicated entry process includes a start number lottery, there is also, with different reporting dates, guaranteed starting places for former participants of the event, for donors to one of the supported by the Edinburgh Marathon charitable projects for members of Scottish running clubs, for runners who staggered by age qualification standard meet, and for foreign starters, the book through a licensed tour operators.

In addition to the individual competition, a marathon relay for teams of four will take place.

The line launched in 2007, is a point - to-point course with a net drop of about 70 meters above sea level. The start is in Princes Street below the Edinburgh Castle. From there it goes down through Holyrood Park, Arthur 's Seat over to Portobello, where after four miles of the Firth of Forth is achieved. Meanwhile, the banks follow in an easterly direction over Musselburgh, Prestonpans and Cockenzie and Port Seton by Longniddry, turns there at Gosford House and runs the last nine miles in the opposite direction to the finish at the Racecourse Musselburgh.
