Edison (company)

Edison SpA is an Italian company based in Milan.

The company operates as an energy supplier (electricity and natural gas) in Italy. Edison was founded in 1884. 1966 to 2001 it was part of Montedison. In 2005, Electricité de France Azienda Elettrica Municipale together with the company. 2012 was the complete takeover by the French and the delisting of the shares of the Company.

Corporate activities

The company plans since 2008 together in a consortium with the Greek company DEPA a natural gas pipeline from Turkey through Greece across the Adriatic Sea to Italy to build.

Furthermore, the company is in a consortium with the Algerian company Sonatrach on the construction of a natural gas pipeline ( GALSI ) from Algeria to Sicily involved.
