Edith Bouvier Beale
Edith Bouvier Beale called Little Edie ( born November 7, 1917 in New York City, New York, † 9 January 2002 in Bal Harbour, Florida) was an American actress and model.
Life
Edith Bouvier Beale was the daughter of the Wall Street lawyer Phelan Beale and Edith Ewing Bouvier his wife (1896-1977), daughter of Irish and French-born New York banker John Vernou Bouvier II ( † 1948) and Maude Sergeant. Through her mother she was the cousin ( first degree) of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and her sister Lee Radziwill. She enjoyed a Roman Catholic upbringing. In its early years, the family lived in New York City, where Edith was 1923, net enrollment in East Hampton, Long Iceland. Later, Little Edie Spence School and the prestigious Miss Porter 's School Girls' College in Farmington, visited the U.S. state of Connecticut. The parents divorced in 1931. After her schooling Edith worked as a model in department stores in New York City and Palm Beach. Edith Bouvier Beale was never married, but she was with Jean Paul Getty, Howard Hughes, and Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. dating.
Through the documentary Grey Gardens (1975), the brothers Albert and David Maysles mother and daughter were known to a broad public. The film depicts the everyday lives of two eccentric women and illustrates how the authorities want to force them to move out from their dilapidated estate of " Grey Gardens " in East Hampton, which could be prevented only through the help of Edith Bouvier Beales niece Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
After her mother's death in 1977, Little Edie sold the rundown property for 220,000 U.S. dollars to Sally Quinn and Ben Bradlee her husband. Before moving to Florida, she lived several years in Southampton, Montreal and Oakland with relatives. Edith Bouvier Beale was found dead in her apartment in Bal Harbour on 14 January 2002. Coroner found that she was only five days earlier died of a heart attack.
In 2006, the musical Grey Gardens in New York was first premiered at an off- Broadway theater and won after the acquisition of a Broadway theater several awards, including three Tony Awards.
A television movie about the life of mother and daughter with the leading actresses Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore was published under the title of Grey Gardens in 2009, the German title is the eccentric cousins of the First Lady.
