Edith Hunkeler

Edith Wolf- Hunkeler ( born July 30, 1972 in Altishofen ) is a Swiss athlete. The wheelchair athlete runs middle and long distance as well as the marathon route.

Since a serious car accident in February 1994 in Zofingen, the trained commercial staff is paraplegic. After her rehabilitation, she spent five months in the United States to learn English. In Florida, she met the disability sport, and began self, intense sports.

Although they failed to qualify for the Paralympics in Sydney 2000, she was unable to attend due to a heavy crash at the Berlin Marathon.

Wolf- Hunkeler since the September 14, 2010 a daughter and married in August 2011 Mark Wolf. The family lives in Dagmersellen.

Sporting successes

Edith Wolf- Hunkeler is a multiple European Champion in various disciplines. Their most successful competitions were at the European Athletics Championships in Assen in 2003, where they won the gold medal in the 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m, 5000 m and the marathon route.

2004

  • Summer Paralympics in Athens in 2004; 2 × Silver ( 1500 m and 5000 m)
  • 2nd place at the Boston Marathon with 1:41:13 h the 42.195km
  • Swiss champion in the 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m and 5000 m

2003

  • Swiss champion in the 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m and 5000 m
  • European champion over 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m, 5000 m and marathon course in Assen, Netherlands
  • Victory over 800 m at the EAA meeting Lucerne
  • 3rd place finish at the Boston Marathon

  • Victory at the Hamburg Marathon

TV appearances

Wolf- Hunkeler moderated in 2001 along with Beni Thurnheer the Miss Switzerland election, in June 2013 she was on the jury of the elections. In November 2013, it was a week as guest host of the show high & mighty in front of the camera.

Honors

Edith Wolf- Hunkeler was for their services seven times ( 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012) elected to the Swiss disabled athlete of the year.
