Edith Schippers

Edith Ingeborg Schippers ( born August 25, 1964 in Utrecht ) is a Dutch politician of the Volkspartij voor de Vrijheid Democracy (VVD ). Since 2010 she directs the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.

Schippers studied political science at the State University of Leiden and worked from 1993 to 1997 as Associate fraction of VVD Group in the Second Chamber of the States General. After that, she was secretary until 2003 when the employers' association VNO -NCW. In addition, it was from 2000 to 2002 secretary of the Main Board of the VVD. On 3 June 2003, Schippers deputies of the Second Chamber. She was member of parliament until they minister in the fall of 2010. From 2010 to 2012 Schippers was Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport in the Cabinet Rutte I, since 2012 in the Cabinet Rutte II

Edith Schippers is married and has one daughter. She lives in Baarn.
