Editio typica

The Latin expression refers to the typical edition of the normative issues of the liturgical books in Latin, which are relevant for the celebration of the liturgy in the Roman Catholic Church.

Since the Second Vatican Council permitted the use of conventional traffic languages ​​for the celebration of Holy Mass, vernacular translations based on the typical edition of the Missal are Romanum, the Rituale Romanum, the Roman Pontifical and now Liturgia horarum or Liturgy of the Hours called Breviarium Romanum developed.

Currently, a new German translation of the third typical edition of the Missal of 1970 in Processing, which was published in 2002 by Pope John Paul II, but essentially the Paul VI Missal. 1970 follows, therefore has confirmed the intended usage of the liturgical reform instauratus of the Roman Rite.
