Edmond Hamilton

Edmond Moore Hamilton ( born November 21, 1904 in Youngstown, Ohio; † February 1, 1977 in Lancaster, California ) was an American science fiction author. His most famous work is the Captain Future novel series, insider denote the Roman ruler in Space / The Star King (Star King ) as his most successful work.

Life

Hamilton was the son of a cartoonist and a teacher. He attended college and worked for a railroad company. 1926 Hamilton published his first short story titled The Monster - God of Mamurth in the August issue of the magazine Weird Tales. This was followed by 26 SF novels, several short story collections and hundreds of texts in books.

Hamilton is considered Space Opera author, a science fiction genre that he had created together with EE Smith. He wrote under various pseudonyms and was in the 40's the driving force behind the Captain Future novels.

Mid-40s was Hamilton one of the authors for Superman. On 31 December 1946 he married the science fiction and screenwriter Leigh Brackett.

After his death, Edmond Hamilton Memorial Award was launched.
