Edmund Bonner
Edmund Bonner ( * 1500, † September 5, 1569 ) was an English Bishop of London.
Life
Edmund Bonner had studied at Oxford University and had come to the court of Henry VIII. As an opponent of the Reformation he played (along with Bishop Stephen Gardiner, Bishop of Winchester ) plays an important role in the separation of the Church of England from the Roman. He was notorious as " Bloody Bonner " for his role in the persecution of heretics under the Catholic government of Mary I ( " Bloody Mary "). He died as a prisoner under Queen Elizabeth I..
