Edmund Gerber

Edmund Gerber ( born August 2, 1988 in Kazakhstan ) is a German boxer in the heavyweight division. He moved at the age of 15 years with his family to Germany. Currently Gerber is living in Schwerin.

Amateur career

He was on the national level in 2006 German Junior Heavyweight Champion and in 2007 German vice-champion of the junior super heavyweight

In June 2005, he won the Hungarian Siófok, the 10th Cadet European Championships in the heavyweight division. He defeated while Sergey Barodich from Belarus, Arman Ataljan from Armenia, Aleksandar Aleksic from Austria and Rustan Shamilow from Azerbaijan. In June 2006, he won a bronze medal in the heavyweight division at the first junior European championships in Rome. He was defeated in the semifinals while the Turks Remzi Ozbek on points.

In total he played 72 amateur fights, with 62 wins and only 10 defeats.

Professional career

His professional debut was at the Gerber points victory over Jevgenijs Stamburskis on 11 October 2007. Was followed by eight more wins, which attracted little attention. This changed on 30 January 2010, when he became the first boxer knockout by the experienced René Dettweiler defeated in the second round.

Edmund Gerber is the Sauerland boxing stable under contract.
