Edoardo Sanguineti

Edoardo Sanguineti ( born December 9, 1930 in Genoa, Italy, † May 18, 2010 ) was an Italian writer, poet, critic and translator. He was representative of the Italian Neoavanguardia and member of the Gruppo 63

Sanguineti was a connoisseur of the language Dante's universe as well as the regional Piedmontese dialect of Genoa. Even in the classical German literature, particularly in the work of Bert Brecht, he was knowledgable. The aesthetic texts within the Frankfurt School were all his life important. One of his books of poetry he gave the German title confusion. The public polemical exchange between him and Pier Paolo Pasolini on the tasks of literature for literary scholars still worth reading.

From 1979 to 1983 Sanguineti was a member of the Camera dei deputati for the KPI. In 2007 he ran for mayor of Genoa, but did not win. Texts of Sanguineti were set to music by Fausto Razzi, Fernando Mencherini and Luciano Berio.
