Edogawa, Tokyo

Edogawa (Japanese江 戸 川 区, -ku ) is one of the 23 city wards of Tokyo, capital of Japan. The name is derived from the eponymous river, which forms the northeastern boundary.

History

The municipality Edogawa Tokyo City was established on October 1, 1932 from the merger of Machi Komatsugawa (小 松川 町, machi ), Koiwa (小 岩 町, machi ), and Mizue (瑞 江 町, machi ), and the Mura Kasai (葛西 村, -mura ), Matsue (松江 村, -mura ), Shikamoto (鹿 本村, -mura ) and Shinozaki (筱 崎 村, -mura ) in Minamikatsushika -gun (南葛 饰 郡).

Traffic

It perform various roads through Edogawa, namely the urban motorway of Tokyo, the National Road 14, according to Chūō or Chiba and the National Road 357, according to Chiba or Yokosuka.

Various trains stop in Edogawa, namely the JR Chūō - sobu - line, by Hirai or Koiwa after Mitaka or Chiba, the JR Keiyo Line from Kasairinkai - Kōen to Tokyo or Chiba, Keisei main line of Keisei Koiwa or Edogawa after Taitō or Narita airport, the Toei Shinjuku line of Funabori, Ichinoe, Mizue or Shinozaki to Shinjuku or Ichikawa and the Tōkyō Metro Tozai Line, Nishi- Kasai Kasai and by Nakano or Funabashi

Mayor of Edogawa since 1999 Masami Tada. He was re- elected in the 2011 regional elections uniform LDP - Komei support for a fourth term. Also at the uniform regional elections, the 44 deputies in the District Parliament were re-elected.

For the Parliament of the Tokyo prefecture is Edogawa Five mandate constituency in the 2013 election, the seats went to two Liberal Democrats and one member each from Kōmeitō, Minna no Tō and CPY.

For elections to the national House of Representatives, the majority of the district forms the constituency of Tokyo 16, the since 2012 the Liberal Democrat Hideo Onishi represents. Koiwa in the north of Edogawa belongs together with Katsushika 17 constituency of the prefecture, the Katsuei Hirasawa six times won in a row for the LDP since 1996.
