Édouard Fachleitner

Edouard Fachleitner ( born February 24, 1921 in Santa Domenica d' Albona ( Sveta Nedelja (Istria )), Italy, † July 18, 2008 in Manosque, France) was a French racing cyclist with Austrian and Italian roots.

Career

Edouard Fachleitner, son of a naturalized Austrian in France, was born in Santa Domenica d' Albona in Istria and adopted on 24 June 1939, the French nationality. His pro career EXTEND from 1943 until 1952. His greatest successes came after the Second World War. 1947 Fachleitner was behind Jean Robic second in the Tour de France and decided it the eleventh stage in Marseille for themselves.

Even before and after Edouard Fachleitner achieved good rankings. He won, among others, in 1945 the GP Circuit d' Armagnac and 1946 Criterium Aix -en -Provence Ajaccio and - Basta. 1948 followed the victory in the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré and 1950 won the Shepherd of Manosque, as he was also called, the GP de Cannes and the Tour de Romandie before Hugo Koblet.
