Edsviken

Edsviken is a long and narrow Ostseearm in the Swedish municipalities Solna, Sollentuna and Danderyd near Stockholm. The Edsviken is approximately 7.7 km long, has an area of approximately 3.6 square kilometers and a maximum depth of approximately 20 meters.

Edsviken is a brackish lake with unique conditions for flora and fauna. Here, among others grow the ordinary beach ledges and in Sweden very rare marsh forget- me-not. Birdlife is unusual here live the oystercatcher, a typical coastal bird, and the barnacle goose. In Edsviken there is also a rich fish population consisting of bass, bream, pike, chub, perch and occasionally Atlantic herring.

At the north end of the Edsviken is the Edsberg Castle ( slott Edsbergs ) and further south the Ulriksdal Castle ( Ulriksdals slott ). The southwestern part of the Edsviken belongs to the National City Park Ekoparken.
