Eduard Ausfeld

Heinrich Eduard Ausfeld ( born May 27, 1850 in Schnepfenthal, † April 4, 1906 in Magdeburg ) was a German archivist and historian.

Life

Ausfeld was the son of the director of Salzmann 's educational institution Schnepfenthal in Thuringia. He received private lessons and put the 1873 in Neubrandenburg from High School. Then he studied history and German language at the universities of Berlin, Bonn, Freiburg and Marburg. At the latter place he received his doctorate in 1879, Dr. phil. and began in February 1880 his career archivist at the State Archives Idstein in the Prussian province of Hesse -Nassau. When the archive was moved to Wiesbaden in 1881, he took part in the parade. It was in 1885 promoted to archivist 2nd class and changed in February 1892, the State Archives in Koblenz.

1897 Ausfeld was transferred to the State Archives Magdeburg, whose directorate he took over after the death of George Adalbert of Mülverstedt 1898. In this role, he sought, inter alia, when the city of Magdeburg Council to hiring full-time archivists and to eliminate the current shortage of space in the archive. He has a significant proportion that the Magdeburg State Archives in what was then Augusta, today Hegelstraße, a new functional building received, in which the archive was located until 2011.

Ausfeld, who died in the 56th year of life was, inter alia, Member of the Historical Commission for the Province of Saxony and the Duchy of Anhalt, the Magdeburg Historical Association and the Association for Nassauische archeology and historical research.

In Walter Hausen, a street was named after him.
