Eduard Gushchin

Eduard Viktorovich Guschtschin (Russian Эдуард Викторович Гущин, English transcription Eduard Gushchin, . Born July 27, 1940 in Motygino, Krasnoyarsk region, † March 14, 2011 in Moscow) was a Russian shot-putter, who competed for the Soviet Union.

In 1965 he won the bronze medal at the Universiade and 1967 silver medal at the European Indoor games.

In 1968 he took at the Olympic Games in Mexico City with 20.09 m bronze medal behind the Americans Randy Matson ( 20.54 m) and George Woods ( 20.12 m ). Shortly before Guschtschin had also exceeded with 20.28 m in Mexico City as the first Soviet athlete the 20 -meter mark.

The European Athletics Championships 1969 in Athens, he finished sixth.

1968 and 1970 he was a Soviet champion.
