Eduard Hambardzumyan

Eduard Hambardsumjan (Armenian Էդուարդ Համբարձումյան; Russian Эдуард Андраникович Амбарцумян; born February 23, 1986 in Sochi) is an Armenian boxer who only started for Russia and since 2007 for Armenia. It was in Liverpool in 2008 European Champion in Welterweight.

Career

Hambardsumjan launched under the name Eduard Ambartsumjan ( Russian spelling of his name ) until mid-2007 for Russia and since that time for Armenia. In 2003 he competed for Russia at the Junior European Championships in Warsaw and took there featherweight behind Adrian Alexander from Romania, but before the eventual champions of the Amateur Frankie Gavin from England 2nd place. In 2004 he achieved an even greater success, because he was in South Korea Jeju even Junior World Featherweight Champion. He needed to five victories. In the final he defeated while Argenis Mendez of the Dominican Republic by points ( 32:27 ).

In 2005, he finished in the Russian Championship after one defeat against Shafidin Alachwerdiew at lightweight the 5th Place. He won this year also at the 6th cup of oil producing countries in Nischnevartovsk the tournament with wins over lightweight Farhoo Ajdatow and Seymour Gurbanow, bde. Azerbaijan.

In 2006 he was runner-up in the Russian lightweight. After four victories, he was defeated fight for victory against Maxin Ignatiev by points ( 35:45 ). In the Russian championship in 2007 he did not come in the light welterweight after a quarterfinal defeat by Alexander Ivanov but on the fifth square.

For interventions for Russia, he did not come in the years 2005 to 2007. At the World Championships of 2007 in Chicago, he was then for the first time for Armenia in use. He arrived there with three wins and lost in the quarterfinals against Masatsuga Kawachi from Japan to points ( 6:10 ). He finished in 5th place, which meant qualification for the Olympic Games in Beijing.

In 2008 he won in Valladolid at the 27th box in the tournament in the light welterweight. In the final he defeated while Gyula Kate of Hungary on points ( 5:1). At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he met in his first fight on Felix Diaz from the cathedral. Rep. and subject to that, quite surprisingly convincingly on points ( 4:11 ). It was little consolation to him that this Felex Diaz then even Olympic champion.

After this disappointment Hambardsumjan launched in November 2008 and at the European Championships in Liverpool. He was there in great shape and was with five wins new European Champion. On the way, he defeated among others the Germans Slava Kerber on points ( 11-4 ) and won the final battle over Gyula Kate by demolition in the 1st round.

  • 2005, 1st Place, Cup of oil-producing countries in Nischnevartovsk, Le, with victories over Farhod Adjatow and Seymour Gurbanow, bde. Azerbaijan;
  • 2007 5th Place, WM in Chicago, Hw, with a crash in the 3rd round victory over Carl sheild, Bahamas, point victories over Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Lithuania ( 24:6 ) and Park Kwan -Soo, Korea ( 18:12 ) u. against one defeat Masatsuga Kawachi, Japan ( 5:10 );
  • 2008, 1st Place, Box - Am tournament in Valladolid, Hw, with point victories over Vasily Zhukov, Russia ( 16:10), Alejandro Rodriguez, Spain ( 22:9 ) and Gyula Kate, Hungary ( 5:1);
  • 2008 17th Place, OS in Beijing, Hw, after one defeat against Felix Diaz, Dom. Rep. ( 4:11 );
  • 2008, 1st place European Championships in Liverpool, Hw, with point victories over Denis Lazarev, Ukraine, Egidijus Kavaliauskas ( 6:3 ), Slava Kerber, Germany ( 11:4 ) and Marcin Legowski, Poland ( 8:1) and discontinuation victory in the first round of Gyula Kate
