Eduard Schön

Eduard Fine (born 23 January 1825 in Engelberg, † May 27 1879 in German Jaßnik ) was an Austrian Ministerial, poet and composer for male voice choirs. He used the pseudonym ES Engelberg for his artistic activity.

Life

Beautifully son of the master weaver Anton Fine and his wife Theresa was born Schleser. He grew up in the Austro- Silesian Engelberg and attended high school in Olomouc. From 1846 onwards Schön studied at the Vienna University of Law and received his doctorate in 1850 for Dr. jur.

From 1851 Beautifully worked in the Imperial and Royal Ministry of Finance and was appointed in 1860 to the Secretary-General of the Exchange Chamber. 1858 married in Vienna Beautiful Betty hero. 1866 his wife died from a typhoid disease.

Schön also took over the management of the Society of Music Lovers in Vienna, this is one of his special achievements in 1870 inaugurated the construction of the building of the Vienna Musikverein.

Because of a disease Schön retired prematurely. In 1879 he died suddenly during a spa stay with his cousin, the consistory Adalbert Riedel in German Jaßnik. His final resting place was nice to Grinzing Cemetery (Group MA, number 32) in Vienna in an honorary grave dedicated.

In 1907 in Vienna Landstrasse (3rd district) was named the Engelsberggasse after him. On the Altvater mountain in Moravia are located in the nature reserve between the Television Tower and the Chata Baborka remains a monument to ES Engelberg. Another monument to Engelberg, and Viktor Heeger and Hanns Bruno Wittek was located on the acropolis of Hunters Village and was removed after the Second World War.

Works

Schön wrote and composed since his high school days. During the Revolution of 1848, the student sympathized with the rebels, and wrote the melody to the sealed by Ignaz Machanek "German Freedom Song ".

After joining the civil service and the rise to a senior official of the monarchy sat Beautifully his artistic work under the pseudonym ES Engelberg, which is a tribute to his birthplace and created the necessary distance to state officials. The Academic Choral Society and the Vienna Men's Choral Society took his songs from 1862 in their repertoire.

Engelberg composed, inter alia, 168 choral works, 63 songs and 12 pieces of church music.
