Eduard Wald

Eduard ( Edu ) forest ( born March 10, 1905 in Kiel, † November 5, 1978 in Lachen am Ammersee ) was a communist politician, trade unionist and resistance fighter against National Socialism

Life

Edward visited a forest Kiel agent and junior high school, he obtained the Obersekundareife, after which he graduated in the years 1921 to 1923 training as a gardener and took off a mate exam. Already in 1923 he was a member of the Communist Youth League. In 1924 he joined the Communist Party and became an early member of the district headquarters of Lower Saxony, where he was responsible for agitation and propaganda and the Rotfrontkämpferbund and in 1926 editor of Lower Saxony workers' newspaper, for which he received twelve previous convictions for press offenses 1926-1929, and from 1926 to 1927 District cashier. In 1929, he completed a short time with a lung condition a cure in the Soviet Union and was then briefly in the educational work of the KPD active. As a member of the critically related to Ernst Thalmann, the ultra-left policies of the party leadership flow of conciliators he lost in 1929 his job at the party ( in spite party approach are not excluded) and was temporarily unemployed, then worked from 1930 to 1933 as a factory worker. In 1930 a network of conciliators within and outside the Communist Party started the forest on a regional level to build.

After coming to power of the NSDAP forest had to go into hiding in May 1933. He succeeded to build the several hundred -member resistance group Committee for Proletarian unit, was their main activity in Hannover. Close contacts he used it with another compromisist group around Hans Westermann in Hamburg and Hanover SAPD Group by Otto Brenner. From 1934 Forest based in Berlin, where he sought the rich -wide coordination of various compromisist groups. On May 11, 1936 arrested by the Gestapo, Forest was sentenced on June 30, 1937 to 15 years imprisonment by the People's Court, which he served until his liberation in April 1945 in the Emsland camps and in the Brandenburg prison.

1945 took over the forest again features in the Lower Saxon KPD. It was dated August 23, 1946 to October 29, 1946 appointed member of the Parliament of the country and Hanover until his criticism of the Stalinist policy of the party in 1948 exit licensee of the Lower Saxony People's Daily. From 1948 Forest worked as a full-time functionary of the DGB in Lower Saxony and at the federal level, in 1950 he published the information service enemies of democracy and joined in the same year the SPD.
