Eduard Zeis

Eduard Zeis ( born October 1, 1807 in Dresden, † June 28, 1868 ) was a German surgeon.

Life

Zeis studied in Leipzig, Bonn, Munich and Leipzig, in turn, where he in 1832 received his doctorate of medicine.

In 1844 Zeis became a full professor of surgery at the University of Marburg and director of the local surgical clinic. In 1847 he was elected to the Leopoldina. From 1850 he was in Dresden first senior physician at the Department of external diseases in the new hospital in Dresden - Friedrichstadt. He is buried in the Dresden cemetery Elias.

Named after him, the Zeis glands.
