Eduardo Kac

Eduardo Kac (born 1962 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian artist.

Works

In his work he examines the philosophical and political dimensions of communication processes.

His most famous works are the luminous rabbit and " Genesis " in which addresses issues from the field with the help of electronic art. Kac is a member of the editorial committee of the journal Leonardo, published by the MIT Press.

In 1997, he was the first person that could be implanted a microchip ( as part of his work " Time Capsule ").

His work has been exhibited in many parts of the United States, Europe and South America, including the Leonora Vega Gallery, New York, Nexus Contemporary Art, Atlanta, Huntington Art Gallery, Austin, Otso Gallery, Helsinki, Galerie Lara Vincy, Paris, at the Biennale of St. Petersburg, at the Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro, and in the Intercommunication Center, Tokyo.

Kac lives and works in Chicago.

Awards

1995 Shearwater Foundation Holography Award, he was awarded in 1998 the Leonardo Award for Excellence. In 2009 he received the Golden Nica at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz.
