Eduardo Mendoza Garriga

Eduardo Mendoza i Garriga ( born January 11, 1943 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish writer who writes in Spanish and Catalan.

Life

Mendoza initially studied law and worked from 1973 to 1982 in New York as an interpreter at the UN.

1975 published his first novel, La verdad sobre el caso Savolta (Eng. The truth about the case Savolta ). His biggest success is the novel La ciudad de los prodigios 1986 (Eng. The city of miracles, 1989, trans. Schwaar of Peter ), in which he tells the story of a young man in Barcelona in the first quarter of the 20th century. In his works he thematized as one of the first Spanish authors, the past Francoist dictatorship. The postmodern renewal of the Spanish historical novel is attributed to him.
