Educated Fish

Educated Fish is an American animated short film by Dave Fleischer from the year 1937.

Action

The ABSea School For Fish deep on the ocean floor, just before the start of school romp around the small fish and squid before they are called by the teacher to class. A small fish refuses to go to school, and has to be caught by the teacher with a fish net. In the lesson, in which the fish learn about the dangers of fishing, the little fish is inattentive and eventually bombard the teacher with stones - she locks him in the school library.

The little fish is not interested in the books, but floats from a window of it. He meets an earthworm, sitting on a fishing hook, and flirts with him. The worm beats him whacked with a club and appends it to the fishing hook which now moves to the water surface. Despite desperate attempts to escape, the fish can not tear myself away. Only when he is already in the fishing boat, the jump succeeds him back into the water. He quickly swims back to school and the teacher promises never to be a naughty fish.

Production

Educated Fish was filmed in Technicolor. The short film was released as part of the Fleischer Animation Series Color Classics on 29 October 1937.

Awards

Educated Fish was nominated in 1938 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ", but could not prevail against the old mill itself.
