Edvin Wide

Emil Edvin Wide ( born February 22, 1896 in Kemiö, Finland, † June 19, 1996 in Stockholm) was a Swedish athlete.

Wide, who was born in Finland in 1918 came to Sweden. During his career he won twelve national Swedish championships over the long haul and took part in three Olympic Games. In 1930 he ended his active career. The year before, he had married his wife Axelina, with whom he was married until his death.

He won at the Olympic Summer Games 1920 in Antwerp in the 3000 -meter run with the Swedish team the bronze medal.

Four years later at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, he won bronze in the 5000 -meter run and the silver medal in the 10,000 meters. At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928, he won the 5,000 m and 10,000 m bronze medals.

1926 Wide was awarded the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal -, a Swedish award for the best sports performance of the year.
