Edward Acton (academic)

Edward David Joseph Lyon- Dalberg - Acton ( born February 4, 1949 in Southern Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, southern Africa ) is a British historian and university professor.

Life

Edward comes from the aristocratic British family, Dalberg - Acton. He received his education first at St. George 's College in Salisbury ( Southern Rhodesia ) before he made ​​his bachelor's degree at the University of York and his doctorate at St Edmund 's College, Cambridge.

His professional career led Acton to the Bank of England. After that he received scientific tasks at the University of Liverpool and University of Manchester. Since 1991 he has been Professor of European History at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. He is the University Vice-Chancellor since 2009.
