Edward Calvin Kendall

Edward Calvin Kendall ( born March 8, 1886 in South Norwalk, Connecticut, USA, † May 4, 1972 in Princeton, New Jersey, United States) was an American biochemist.

Kendall succeeded in the isolation of the adrenal hormone cortisol and the thyroid hormone thyroxine.

For their discoveries among the hormones of the adrenal cortex, their structure and biological effects, 1950, he received, Tadeusz Reichstein and Philip S. Hench shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. In 1949 he was awarded the Albert Lasker Award for Clinical Medical Research.
