Edward D. DiPrete

Edward Daniel DiPrete ( born July 8, 1934 in Cranston, Rhode Iceland ) is a retired American politician. He was from 1985 to 1991 Governor of the State of Rhode Iceland.

Early years and political rise

Edward DiPrete studied at the College of the Holy Cross and then served in the U.S. Navy. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1970 and 1974 he was a member and chairman of the school committee of the city Cranston. After that, he was from 1974 to 1978 a member of the City Council and from 1978 to 1985 mayor of this place.

Governor of Rhode Iceland and other CV

In 1984, DiPrete was elected governor of his state. This office he held between 1 January 1985 and 1 January 1991. During this time he was a member of several associations governor. Investigations in the years after his governorship brought DiPrete 1994, a prosecution for corruption and other crimes during his term of office.
