Edward Johnston Alexander

Edward Johnston Alexander ( born July 31, 1901 in Asheville, North Carolina, † 1985) was an American botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Alexander".

He worked at the New York Botanical Garden. His specialty was the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). For the Flora of North America by the U.S. botanist Nathaniel Lord Britton, he contributed to Volume 19 Number 1 " Pontederiaceae " (1937 ) with, together with EE Sheriff to Volume 2 of the second series " Compositae Coreopsidinae " (1955). Alexander was editor of the Addisonia.
