Edward Keating

Edward Keating (* July 9, 1875 in Kansas City, Kansas, † March 18, 1965 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. Between 1913 and 1919 he represented the third electoral district of the state of Colorado in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Edward Keating was born on a farm in Wyandotte County, Kansas. In 1880 he moved with his mother to Pueblo in Colorado. After another move they settled down in 1889 in Denver. There, Edward Keating attended the public schools. After leaving school, he went through a successful career in the newspaper business. He worked as a reporter and editor of newspapers.

Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1899 and 1901 he was auditor of the city of Denver. In 1903 he was a member of an Assembly which drafted the first statute of the city of Denver. Between 1906 and 1911 he published the newspaper "Rocky Mountain News ". From 1906 to 1907 he was president of the International Press Club. In the years 1911-1913 he was chairman of the Country Representative of the State of Colorado ( State Board of Land Commissioners ). After earning a newspaper in Pueblo, he moved in 1912 in this city.

In the same year Keating was elected in the third district of Colorado in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington. There he took over from the March 4, 1913 Edward T. Taylor, who joined in the fourth district. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1919 three legislative periods. From 1917 to 1919 he was chairman of the committee responsible for supervising the expenditure of the Post Ministry. In 1918, he was not re-elected. After his time in Congress, he gave up in 1953 showed the official weekly newspaper of the railroad workers. Then he withdrew into retirement.
