Edward Rowan Finnegan

Edward Rowan Finnegan ( born June 5, 1905 in Chicago, Illinois, † February 2, 1971 ) was an American politician. Between 1961 and 1964 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Edward Finnegan attended the schools of his home. Then he studied at Loyola University. After a subsequent law degree from Northwestern University and his 1931 was admitted as a lawyer in Chicago, he started to work in this profession. In the following years he became deputy prosecutor in Cook County and was one of the legal advisers of the city of Chicago. In 1939 he applied unsuccessfully for the post of municipal judge. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1960, Finnegan was in the twelfth electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the meantime deceased Charles A. Boyle on January 3, 1961. After a re-election in the ninth district of his state as a successor of Sidney R. Yates he could remain until his resignation on December 6, 1964 in Congress.

Finnegan's resignation was after his appointment as District Judge in Cook County. This office he held until his death on February 2, 1971 in Chicago.
