Edward Sokoine

Edward Sokoine Moringe (* 1938 † 12 April 1984) was the Prime Minister of Tanzania. He had appointed two terms of 13 February 1977 to November 7, 1980 and February 23, 1983 to April 12, 1984. He was thus the fourth Prime Minister of Tanzania since independence in 1961. The University of Mororgoro was after him.

Life

Sokoine 1938 in Monduli, south of the town of Arusha, was born. He attended from 1948 to 1958 the schools in Monduli and Umbwe and joined in 1961 the Tanganyika African National Union ( TANU ), which was founded by Julius Nyerere. From 1962 to 1963 Sokoine was to study in Germany. After his return he was appointed District Officer of the district Executice Masai and was raised in the National Assembly. In 1967 he became minister of communications, transportation and labor. His political success was but to continue. In 1970 he became Minister of State ( Regional President ) and 1972 Sokoine defense minister. Then he was again a member of the National Assembly, however, for Monduli. 1977 moved to Chama Cha Mapinduzi Edward Sokoine where he was also a member of the central committee. He was then of the population to the new Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania | United Republic of Tanzania and was appointed to 1981 in office. In 1983 he was re-elected, but Sokoine died a year later, on 12 April 1984 in a car accident.
